Frequently Asked Questions Questions to think about(FAQ'S)1. Why pay someone when I can talk to my friends? For some people talking to friends and family is very helpful and supportive. For others talking with a counsellor about very difficult and painful feelings and issues helps people to get a deeper understanding of what is troubling them and develop new ways to deal with their problems. Going for counselling is a personal choice. some people choose counselling others find different ways of coping and managing their difficulties. 2. Does counselling work will it make my problems disappear?In counselling there are no quick fixes. It does require effort to confront and tackle painful issues. I will provide you with a very safe space for you to express yourself. I will work with you to help you to develop the awareness and skills to live in a more satisfying way.People respond to counselling in different ways and that counselling experience for both client and counsellor is a very personal and unique experience.3. What happens in the initial consulation?We will arrange an initial meeting which will help you to see if you would like to continue working with me.the first meeting is called an intial assessment and gives us the opportunity to see what help and support you require.this intial meeting will give you the chance to raise any questions and issues about your counselling.this is a one off meeting and you are under no obligation to attend any further sessions.4. What is the frequency of the sessions?The expectation is that counselling will be on a weekly basis at the same time and day each week. Each session lasts for fifty minutes.5. How can I share my feelings with a stranger?The counsellor will provide you with a safe and confidential space to talk.I recognise that some people may have difficulty in building trust and being able to open up to a new person.After your first meeting with your counsellor your relationship may develop and you will feel more able to talk as the sessions progress.6. How Much Does It Cost? Individuals £35-£45 per session(sliding scale)
(Reduced rates available for Students and people on low income.)
Couples Counselling £65.00 per session.
